Josephine Story’s love for the environment started at a young age. She grew up in Estero, Florida on the Estero River not far from the Gulf of Mexico. She enjoyed, and still does, kayaking the beautiful canopied river as well as spending days along the coastline. The sound of the water lapping at beach shore is one of her favorite sounds. As she grew up, the development around her caught her attention and she wanted to teach the public the importance of green spaces and the need to preserve land. To this end, Josephine earned a B. A. in Environmental Studies at Florida Gulf Coast University, a few miles from her childhood home.

After graduation, Josephine moved to North Western Pennsylvania to work at an environmental center teaching elementary school students about the importance of the environment. She worked as an intern at the Conservancy of Southwest Florida in Naples guiding kayak tours, and then ventured to North West Texas to again work at an environmental center. Her passion for the environment, education, and life experiences has led her to understand the critical need for environmental education for people of all ages. Josephine hopes to gain knowledge and experience at Pine Jog to grow personally and professionally.

Josephine is enthusiastic to learn from all the programs offered at FAU Pine Jog, one of the oldest environmental education centers in the nation and is extremely appreciative of The Garden Club of Palm Beach for supporting her dreams of becoming an Environmental Education professional.
